Who is PRG?

PRG is a responsive housing organization that combines bricks and mortar development with housing education and one-on-one counseling to build neighborhood stability and family self-sufficiency.

• We transform vacant, foreclosed properties into beautiful homes;
• We develop unique, affordable housing for special-needs populations;
• We provide pre-purchase education and counseling for first-time homebuyers; and
• We provide foreclosure-prevention counseling for homeowners.

What does PRG stand for?

The initials "PRG" connect us to our roots in the 1970s as Powderhorn Residents Group, a group of neighbors concerned about affordable, resident-controlled housing in the Powderhorn Park neighborhood of Minneapolis. Very early in our history, PRG began applying our expertise to housing problems beyond the borders of our founding neighborhood, and today we serve many core neighborhoods of Minneapolis, and also nearby communities. We keep the name PRG just as we retain our commitment to genuine connection with the families and communities we serve.

What's a responsive housing organization?

We work at the invitation of neighborhoods and cultural groups. As a relatively small organization, we are nimble enough to tailor our services and take on unique and challenging projects. This often means creating one-of-a kind housing for specific groups of people. And we're currently applying this expertise to respond to the foreclosure crisis in a uniquely effective way.
